Meet the Artist

Renlyn grew up near Detroit, Michigan across the lake to Windsor, Canada. Detroit's cultural scene was stimulating and provided significant visual influences.  She loved to visit the Detroit Institute of Arts where she saw the first full Diego Rivera exhibit which influenced her Spirit series. She believes that Rivera portrayed the women’s strong hands as a symbol of their power and fortitude. The flowers which calm our hearts are significant in every mural. For Renlyn’s Spirit series, she is sharing her love of each flower's color and unique form. She offers a personal style of hand crafted candle holders, mirrors and wall pockets which remind us we are “of the earth” with every smudge or swipe of the clay.

Renlyn's business  first began in 1992 as "Bosque Artistry," in New Mexico when she lived near the beautiful Rio Grande's Bosque, an incredible cottonwood forest. The second iteration of her ceramics occurred when she relocated to the base of the Sangre De Cristo mountains in Colorado. Inspired by the first major wildfire to strike the area, she renamed the business, "Wildfire Studios." Former recipients might remember the kayak, rock climbing and mountain bike tiles or the tea cups with kayakers in swirl at the bottom.

Renlyn hopes the colors and energy of each Whimsical Animal will bring people a smile, a dance and a sense of personal strength.
